Oh, the Message You Have to Share!
Publishers Weekly reported this week that in the first half of 2017, overall sales of printed books are up 3% over the first half of 2016. As a lover of printed books, I find this news encouraging and I bet you do, too. Creatives are tactile and we love that which we can hold in our hands—the same hands we use to create.
So, what was the most popular title for this first half of the year? Oh the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss; a book about the ups and downs, challenges, celebrations and adventures of life. This is the book everyone loves to give as a gift to graduates for it speaks to someone embarking on a new phase in life (something I can relate to wholeheartedly right now).
What I want to share with you today—the day of my first blog post!—is the part of the book known as "The Waiting Place." This is the place in which most people spend most of their lives—waiting. Waiting for new opportunities to come along, waiting for a promotion, waiting for inspiration to strike, waiting for the right connection to show up . . . waiting for the right time to put needed focus and energy behind the making and publishing of a book . . .waiting to grow old and eventually begin pushing up daisies.
Stop waiting to share with us your unique message of hope and inspiration. We could really use it sooner rather than later. If you feel it's too big to share all at once, give us spoonfuls in Instagram posts. And if you have no idea where to start, I can help!
